The First International Conference of The Moroccan Society of Linguistic Research and the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at Mohammed V University

March 13-14, 2024

The Moroccan Society of Linguistic Research is organizing its first conference on “Current Issues in Applied Linguistics”. The Society invites all researchers and those interested in applied linguistics issues to participate in this Conference, to be held on March 13 and 14, 2024, at the Faculty of Languages, Literature and Arts at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, Morocco. Through this scientific activity, the society aims to create a wide and open space for discussing applied linguistics issues within the framework of the diversity of conceptions and backgrounds that guide it.
The Conferencewill focus on the following topics:
• Linguistic situation, Language planning and Language policy
– Arabic and languages contact in Morocco: History and current situation.
– The constituents of multilingualism and comparison between them in function and use.
– The issues of diglossia.
– Analysis of the attitudes of speakers of the languages used.
• language in education
– The study of the Arabic language in pre-university education, in terms of its methods, objectives, educational resources and tools, its share of informatics and communication technology, and its quantitative and qualitative status compared to the study of the foreign language.
– The Arabic language in higher education as a language of scientific research and teaching in various disciplines.
– Renewing the grammatical descriptions and the essential Arabic language studies that form the basis for preparing reference resources in education and research, such as textbooks, dictionaries, and linguistic introductions.
– The linguistic situation in society and its impact on teaching the Arabic language
– Researching ways to plan a better future for the Arabic language in the educational institution and society.
Requirements for Participation:
– The communicationshould be in Arabic or English or French.
-The research paper should be related to one of the conference themes and topics.
-The search requires authenticity, the fulfilment of the scientific method, and the commitment to academic requirements.
– The researcher attempts to provide an accurate abstract of his research not exceeding (100) words in Arabic, English and French, appended by five keywords.
– The Arabic text should be typed with Traditional Arabic font size 16, spaced 1.5 and the footnotes should be size 12, in the same font. The foreign text should be typed with Traditional Arabic font size 12, spaced 1.5 and the footnotes should be size 12.
– All provide research is subject to scientific arbitration, provided that the authors of accepted research undertake to make the amendments proposed by the Scientific Committee, when necessary, within the specified deadline.
– The number of pages of a complete article, by adopting the above-mentioned requirements, should not exceed twenty pages at most.
– The accepted communication should not exceed 20 minutes while the presentation.

Please follow the aforementioned procedural steps to facilitate arbitration, document layout, and printing.
Important Dates
– Abstract submission deadline: January 02th,2024;
– Notification of abstract acceptance: January 10th, 2024;
– Full papers submission deadline: before: February 10th, 2024;
– Notification of final acceptance: February 20th, 2024;
– Conference: 13-14 March 2024;
Research proposal submission procedures:
– the submitted abstract should not exceed (500) words. It must not include the researcher’s name, written in the language in which the communication will be presented, and appended by relevant references /the approved bibliography.

– There is no registration fee for presenters of the selected papers.
